Artemin Gallery presents the Artist Talk for “That’ll Hold,” Oct 17 (Sat), 16:00–17:00.

Elanor Wang is a Taipei-based writer and curator. She holds an MA in History of Art and Archaeology from SOAS, University of London, and previously worked in a museum before turning to independent curating and writing; she now teaches part-time in the Department of Media Communication at Shih Chien University and co-founded the writing project muainn. Her curatorial work includes They Told Me It’s Not Your Fault. And I Told Them Everything Will Be Fine (2024) and Dear Taiwan, an outdoor exhibition for TIPF (2025).

Jan Vallverdú (b. 1995, Barcelona) began in graffiti and large-scale muralism, and that background still runs through his practice — spontaneous, physical gesture alongside a slower, more deliberate process. He later moved to oil paint for its slow drying time and capacity for repeated intervention, building and reworking surfaces through layers, scraping, and adjustment, so each decision stays partly visible beneath the next — a constant negotiation between what’s deliberately constructed and what emerges by accident.

The conversation centers on Vallverdú’s core thread: the body as a site of ongoing negotiation — stability and imbalance, control and its loss, presence and disappearance — never settling into fixed form, caught between the figurative and the abstract. Wang and Vallverdú will discuss his methods, materials, and what this Asia debut means for the work.

策展作品包括《They Told Me It’s Not Your Fault. And I Told Them Everything Will Be Fine》（2024）與 TIPF 戶外展《Dear Taiwan》（2025）。

Jan Vallverdú（b. 1995，

“That’ll Hold” turns the body into a site of negotiation — stability against imbalance, control against its loss, presence against disappearance. Vallverdú’s figures resist fixed form: caught mid-manoeuvre, they hold a momentary equilibrium between the figurative and the abstract, like a diagram still taking shape.
Jan Vallverdú (b. 1995, Barcelona) began drawing at an early age, moving into muralism and large-scale painting before turning to the studio. He works in oil for its slow drying time and capacity for repeated intervention, building and reworking surfaces through layers, scraping, and adjustment — each decision left partially visible beneath the next.
We warmly invite you to join us.

「That’ll Hold」
Jan Vallverdú（b. 1995，
