In Cheng Nung-Hsuan's paintings, classical composition evokes a theatrical grandeur, establishing a sense of structured visual harmony. Yet, rather than resting within this stability, Cheng persistently introduces disruptive elements. Fluorescent hues, strikingly contrasting lines, and color blocks that interject like discordant notes punctuating a carefully orchestrated melody, generating tension and ambiguity within the visual field. These interventions are not incidental but meticulously deliberated, woven into a dynamic interplay of painterly languages. This continuous negotiation and recalibration marks the defining essence of Cheng Nung-Hsuan's artistic vocabulary.

Unevenness is the way 維持崎嶇 | Cheng Nung-Hsuan 鄭農軒

Around 2017, Cheng Nung-Hsuan began to depict faces less and less, often using alternative painting methods to replace visual facial recognition. The aim was to prevent viewers from wondering who the subject was, because who it is doesn't really matter; what matters is the posture of existence.

約莫從2017年開始，鄭農軒便越來越少描繪臉，往往是以其他畫法試著替代視覺的臉部辨識，讓人不去猜想那到底是誰——是誰確實不重要，重要的是存在的姿態。
