Biography
Nicolas Mehdi Pour Vahid (b. 1995, Tours, France) is a French Persian painter, currently based in Paris. He studied Design at La Martinière in Lyon. Influenced early on by his mother’s work as a sculpture restorer and his father’s devotion to Persian literature and poetry, his practice evolved from narrative drawing to painting. His first graphic novel is published in 2021.
He exhibits regularly in Paris, notably with Galerie Laffanour Downtown +, Galerie Dauphine, and Romero Paprocki. In 2025, he completed a residency at The Cabin LA (Los Angeles), mentored by Danny First, and participated in the Kiyoshima Apartment residency hosted by Beppu Project in Japan. His work was presented in a solo exhibition at A66 Gallery, Mallorca (2025). In 2026, he is preparing a solo show at Artemin Gallery, Taipei.
Statement
Silence. The rustling of leaves. The sound of my footsteps. I remember the first times. When I smelled that scent, felt that very breeze. Caressing my face, blowing through my hair. A bird cries. The light flickers like a gentle fire. The landscape seen in dreams sings nameless emotions. Icons of my childhood, I am a comic book hero. When was that? Before, before the waves.
And then, the scarlet clouds.
