Kiaf Seoul 2025
Bram Kinsbergen/Mirza Cizmic/Nung-Hsuan Cheng
Artemin Gallery
We are honored to present the works of Bram Kinsbergen, Mirza Cizmic, and Taiwanese artist Nung-Hsuan Cheng at KIAF Seoul 2025.
Bram Kinsbergen
Bram Kinsbergen (b. 1984) lives and works in Boechout, Belgium. His work delves into the complexities of both individual and collective human experiences, often navigating the space between the familiar and the mysterious. Using metaphors such as mirrors and walls, Kinsbergen examines themes of self-reflection and the challenges of understanding others. Guided by intuition, he chooses subjects that deeply resonate with him, driven by a commitment to originality. His practice engages with both tangible and enigmatic ideas, reflecting his ongoing desire to deepen insight into the human condition.
Mirza Cizmic
Finnish artist Mirza Cizmic, born in 1985 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is currently in a prolific phase of his creative journey. The works of Mirza Cizmic whether depicting mischievous children, representing innocent doodles or religious metaphors, are transformed into satirical pieces.
His works often feature a multitude of seemingly unrelated yet connected bizarre events occurring simultaneously within a single space. Traditional male roles are infused with feminine qualities, skillfully handled to avoid any perception of irreverence or blasphemy towards religion. Through his playful approach, Cizmic‘s art provokes reflection on contemporary social issues while paying homage to art history.
Nung-Hsuan Cheng
Cheng Nung-Hsuan (b. 1983, Taipei) graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Taipei National University of the Arts. He has been recognized with selections in the CTBC Painting Prize, the Taiwan Emerging Artists Award, and the Kaohsiung Award, with works collected by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. In May this year, he presented a successful and well-received solo exhibition at Artemin Gallery.
Cheng reconstructs narrative methods and compositional models established by classical painting throughout art history, assembling, mimicking, and reshaping them to evoke a theatrical, dreamlike quality. Through this, he explores both tangible and intangible distances between the viewer and the artwork, as well as the gaps and discontinuities arising from Taiwan’s indirect encounters with Western art traditions due to historical and temporal contexts.
